As a team

Yesterday there's some conflict between me & Hubby over the issue of the missing scanned certificates of mine..

I remembered feeling panic and worried until Hubby told me "We can face everything together as a team, solve it slowly one by one as a team".

Yes... we're a team.

Sick of the food liao...

Hubby says Saturday go Tesco Extra again to restock our home supply..

PORK RIBS for BAK KU TEH & ABC SOUP!

Its getting cold now, no sun but foggy sky nowadays.. Flowers start to die and leaves start to fall.. got to wear thick thick at home if want to save on electric bills (in order not to on heater).

Look at how nice my Gerberas have grown! The growing process it looks so ugly... now full bloom already so pretty! Really describe the chinese saying very well, 女大十八变!

Had a hearty lunch yesterday, Hubby pack lunch from my favourite chinese stall.. (fried rice with beijing chicken combo)

My favourite pastime, cuddling with Hubby on sofa and watch nice movies at home (not to forget must have some nice snacks to munch on)!

HAHA! PICK is addictive!

Hubby is tall enough to pluck, I got to JUMP for it!

Many fallen apples on the floor!

And now we're eating free apples which we pluck from the apple trees! The size of apples are a lot smaller but so cute and taste good too. We're not eating apples from carton box but directly from tree! (fresh!) hehe.
After washing & cleaning it..

It makes such a lovely simple display~

So Inspired.

I was watching a drama "The Lying Game" few days ago.. and Emma Becker (one of the main lead in the drama) was in a very horrible fostering home in the show, so I was curious if most Fostering are horrible?

I've no clue how Fostering works, and if Singapore even have one (for Human?)? I only know the term "Foster" in animal forums, where people help to temporary take care of abandon animals..

So I went to google and type "Foster Kid", and I chance upon a blog whom the writer name herself "LT", she grew up in the foster care system from the age of 7, and stayed in 13 different homes in 11 years. She was ask to leave out of the system by the age of 18, did not get adopted and yet to find a good home and she is still waiting for a family.. I guess?

As I continue to read about her life.. I am very impressed by how well she write and how truthful and innocent she really is. Her pain...her desire...her fear...and her happiness over things that may seems so small to "normal people" who grew up normally with family, but meant the world to her..

She really inspired me.

There're many post that lead me to tears.. cos I could really feel her words. Mixture of feelings, guilty of what I've been taking granted for all these years, and feeling so lucky of who I am and where I am now..

I've never been this inspired by someone that will lead me to do self- reflection so much..

I start asking myself, how come I will ever google about fostering? It's like the whole "Hamster keeping saga" where it suddenly just came into my life and brings a significant impact to my life..

It feels like a sign... to tell me how lucky I really am and I should show more love to people..animals..or anything for that matter. Because love is simple, and yet not everybody get to experience it. :)

This is LT blog link if you want to know what inspired me so much,
http://looneytunes09.wordpress.com

She touched me with words. Her style of writing.. very simple. Nothing fancy, no cam whore pictures, no advertorials on any products or reviewing on any special offer. But with tons of different experience and lesson, beautiful words, beautiful personality and inspirations.

I really hope one day, just one day she will be able to find someone who really care and love her unconditionally.. because truth is, everyone deserved it. :)

Getting cold at night..

The best thing I've experience so far in Cambridge is the cooling weather.. without it, even with nice buildings and beautiful scenery, I won't be able to fully enjoy it.

I've been living in hot and humid country for the past 23 years. Been to super cold snowy country like Korea, which is a bit too extreme so can't really "enjoy".. The best cooling place I've travel so far before I come to UK would be Genting, haha.

Cambridge is not sibei cold like I've experience in Korea before, but it's very cooling and I really love it! I can't imagine I'll ever say this but I really love having Sun here, cos the Sun will balance out the temperature here.. (Without Sun can be too cold sometimes)

But at night it can be sibei cold especially with the killer wind.. makes me shiver like mad..

The most jia lad part is when it rains at night.. Night + Rain + Killer Wind =

FREEZING, Like this..
and you NEED to wrap yourself up despite looking like a ET.
This is me running into Grafton center to hide from the killer wind as well as to borrow some "heat".
Wearing Hubby windbreaker and warming my face and hands with my hot breath..

I really cold until just talk rubbish like !@#$%^&*(@#$%^&*()...

I still remember how Hubby laugh at me and concluded that I can only survive well in cool temperature..

Not too cold, not too hot, must be dry and cool.

YES I AGREE!

I really love sunny cool days~

Weather have started to turn colder these days, trees also turn redder..

Halloween is coming, I wonder how its going to be...

I've already seen so many nice gift set and nice xmas deco selling in stores now, its only Oct and people here already started to plan for Xmas already.

I'm brain storming on Hubby's gift from me..

Life is really simple here, and people are a lot more patient and nice.. no gan jiong people pushing me, no one tail gating me when i'm in queue, people are not so up-tight about small issues, man are generally much more gentleman here than in SG (sorry but its really the case.. =X)

Of cos nothing is perfect, the down side here is the food here is really boring..

Breakfast, is the SAME EVERYWHERE..
(Bacon, Sausage, Harsh brown, Egg, Mushroom, Bake Beans, Bread.)

Other than these, nothing else! Seriously, you can't find anything else for breakfast here.. any morning if you eat out, the breakfast is about the same. They call it the English Breakfast.

Lunch & Dinner, if its not Fast food, then it means TASTELESS..

The first few days I was like "WAH...the breakfast is freaking good!"

But after eating it continuously for a week, I stop thinking that it was that awesome anymore.. In SG there's definitely more choices of food for Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner etc.. we don't eat same thing over and over and over again..

I miss buying Porridge for breakfast, I miss having soupy noodle for breakfast, I miss having Chui Kuay, I miss having You Tiao, I miss having Economic Beehoon or Kuay Tiao, I miss OTAH, I miss Fish ball noodle, Chicken Rice, Carrot Cake, Prawn Noodle, Laksa, Hor fun, Stingray, Fish head curry, etc etc..

I really admire the British loyalty..

Its not a bad thing though, I've seen many many old couple holding hands here which is really sweet. I also see how people are more easy to handle and a lot more appreciative..

I start to bother about recycling and clearing your own table after eating...

Well I guess we simply can't ask for everything.. :)

Every time I walk pass old couple that are holding hands and talk gently to each other, I tell Hubby this is where I want us to be heading towards.. :)

New Hobby

Hubby have been searching for activities which we can do together after work, some things which we can both learn together and have fun!

He knows that I'm pretty bad with sports, I can only do swimming.. but its damn cold here so we dropped the idea..

Badminton, nahhh.. I can't even start the ball.. lol..

Band, yeah we thought of it too but sadly they take in mostly people with experience, and we've to buy/rent our own instrument and its damn expensive.. so yeah, we dropped the idea again..

Dance, I'm totally into it, cos that was my passion when I was in school! When Hubby suggested it, I was like "OKAY!!!"
However, I thought Hubby would find it damn GAY.. But ended up he was quite cool with it, and we manage to found a dance that is less gay!

TAP DANCING!

We went today, and it was awesome! Tap dancing is totally challenging to me cos I use to do modern dance, chinese dance, ballet and contemporary.. never once tried something so beat and rhythm focused.. Really need a loose ankle to do it, and most of the experience I had was with body gesture, hand and legs movement, emotions and facial expression which was very all rounded..

Tap dancing really focus on the feet, need to have flexible ankle to differentiate between heel and toes.. did I mention it was fast too?!

We had so much fun!

Can't wait for Jazz class next week!

I feel so happy that I'm doing dance again.. never thought I'd ever dance again.. :)

shocking electric bill

Today we went to check our weekly updated electric bill, and we were super shock when we saw it was 150 pounds! (Since 21 sept???).

Its freaking both of us up as we're super power saving, didn't even dare to on the lights during day time and make an effort to off all switches whenever we're not using them.. We didn't even on heater at all and just wear like dumpling at home to keep ourselves warm! And water heater are also said to be included in the rent, so it can't be cause by us bathing everyday with hot water right?!

Hubby went to the electric circuit to check it out, and he found out that there's this 2 hidden floor heater and 1 towel hanging rack heater which were on since day 1 and we didn't even use it at all.. the moment we found out, we quickly off all the freaking hidden heaters! =.=

For the first 3 days, we're hardly home and we only started using freezer and refrigerator on the 3rd or 4th day here! For only few days the electric bill can shoot up to 150 pounds, which is the amount we heard being the average monthly electric bill for household in UK?! Omg I can't believe it..

I'm pretty sure it was the stupid hidden heaters that are causing us so much money..

Now we're finding out whether those are the cause of such high electric bills for this 1 week plus.. hopefully it is! Else we will be mad crazy dealing with this kind of siao high electric bills every month! (if 150 pounds is for 1 week, 1 month will cause around 600pounds!) WHAT!! 1200 SGD MONTHLY ON ELECTRIC BILLS?! Our rent is only 640pounds per month, and electric itself cost almost the same as our rent?! 有没有搞错?!

KILL ME PLEASE.

I'm super paranoid now, off all switches and really angry at how the college make us pay for stupid heaters which we didn't even use or know in the first place!

Hubby have sent a email to them to find out what is the main cause of our electric bill.. what a huge damages!

WAITING FOR THEIR REPLY NOW..

UPDATE:

So ended up it was a mistake, our bill wasn't 150pounds (that was the weekly rental cost instead of electrical cost), and the meter reading the college also got it wrong~ (doesn't tally with our meter at home! LOUSY MAX)

They're now in the mid of investigation, they will inform the accurate meter reading to us soon, and it should cost NOT more than 30pounds (already on the high side), we're super power savings and we deserve cheap bill okay! :D

Rest assured..~

Hubby is planning on our trip to Tesco extra this weekend (I love big supermaket) ! Over here really not as convenient as Singapore, you don't get to travel to lotsa places in a day cos the whole city is damn huge.. Nevertheless, I love the weather here and the many beautiful things and lovely people I see everyday.. :)

Love our cozy apartment, the nice cool weather, the friendly vibes and beautiful buildings and scenery!

Tried sitting on the Punt at river cam, very cool and relax~ lotsa happy ducks swimming around, blowing winds, see nice scenery and enjoy the peaceful ride! Hubby tried Punting too, he said was tiring but fun haha!

Don't like the food here though, so boring! :(
